Your first night in GTA Online
Find your footing before chasing a fortune.
A practical GTAZen checklist for a relaxed first session. Rewards and available features depend on your platform, edition and current updates.
Set a small objective
Pick one thing to learn: a race, a cooperative activity, or a route around the city. Trying every marker at once makes it harder to understand what you actually enjoy.
Spend with a purpose
Before buying a property or vehicle, check what it unlocks in your edition and whether your crew plans to use it. Leave room in your budget instead of spending everything because an item is highlighted.
Build a repeatable session
Agree on the activity, voice preference and time available before starting. Afterward, write down one thing you learned and one thing to try next. Use Rockstar’s current Online page for changing content.
Your checklist
- Check your platform and edition
- Complete the introduction available to your character
- Review controls and accessibility options
- Pick one activity to learn
- Find a crew that matches your pace
- Set a budget before a major purchase
