Reputation is a currency.
GTA 2 keeps an overhead viewpoint while giving competing gangs and the player’s standing with them a larger role. Its setting is commonly called Anywhere City.

Helping one faction can undermine relationships with another. That reputation structure distinguishes GTA 2 from the first game and the more character-led stories that follow.
